Frequently Asked Questions

1.

What if I bring more or less books than what I checked in with?

If you are dropping books off at a PBS or PBD, the Palmetro Representative will be more than happy to assist you with your free non-obligatory quote regardless of the number of books you bring.

2.

Will you purchase all of my books?

We generally cannot purchase books older than three (3) years old. While it is our aim to purchase as many textbooks as possible, some textbooks, particulalry older editions, have dropped to little or no value. This is usually because newer editions have come out and schools either aren't using the older editions, or if they are, many available copies raised supply above demand.

We understand the concern students have about seemingly unwarranted rapidly changing textbook editions. We know the laws of Algebra haven't changed in the past three years and we know you know this too. This is why we suggest selling your books as soon as you are done with the class. Even if you want to retain an Algebra book, then trade us that new one you have for one that is a few years old and we'll give you some cash and you've still got an algebra book.

3.

What condition should my books be in?

Our rep will contemplate the condition of your books when preparing your offer.

We understand your books weren't kept in a climate controlled padded suitcase. Each book should be free of significant damage. It should not have any missing pages or major tears or major spill stains. Highlighting, writing and minor surface scuffs are usually acceptable with no effect on our offer.

Our goal is to make the textbook selling process super easy for students.

It turns out that most of the books we end up buying happen to be in excellent condition.

4.

What do I do if I need to reschedule or cancel the appointment?

Reply with the details of your need to reschedule or cancel to the confirmation e-mail you received from Palmetro™. It is great if you can let us know at least 12 hours prior to the appointment but if you forget, no worries. Just visit Palmetro.com to reschedule by checking in again at your convenience.

5.

Where is the meeting location?

The exact location of our stop near your campus may vary from week to week based on the number of students that check in to sell that week and based on special location requests made by sellers. After you complete the check in process for the general location and time, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with directions to the specific location. We usually meet a public location (parking lot) at your campus or in town.

Our representatives will not plan to stop at locations where students have not checked in to sell, so please check in at least 12 hours prior to the stop time to ensure confirmation. If you do not receive a confirmation, contact us prior to showing up.

6.

Why do you not meet at my campus as often?

We are constantly reviewing the stop schedules to ensure proper frequency. We base it on the number of books we purchase from each location. If more sellers check in and sell us books from a certain location, then we are likely to add another stop time for that location.

7.

Why do you you have to be at least 18 years old and why do we need I.D?

After reviewing closely related laws, regulation and practices, we have determined it is a prudent and ethical business practice to make these requirements. Although our specific business type is not regulated with the legal requirements to do so in South Carolina, it is our policy to require photo identification to help ensure goods we are purchasing are not stolen and to be able to assist authorities in the unlikely event goods we purchase are subsequently determined to have been stolen.
